Hamdy reported today that there are apparently still three torture camps in operation in the Sinai, rather than just one reported earlier.

In fact, our Eritrean colleague in Israel reported this morning that the following was conveyed by another member of our Team in Israel, who has heard from a relative of one being held hostage, in a group kidnapped last month:

Total the number of the kidnapped is == 44
Among this number there are ------- 6 kids ......24 women----14 men
The money they were asked to pay is $30,000 [each]
Time been kidnapped 19-12-2011
The place where they are now imprisoned-----Mahdi( Sinai)
Telephone used by the kidnappers is ------00972546568323
The name of one of the kidnappers is --------YOSUF

Another report from EveryOne Group (Rome) states that the operation is headed up by Abu Musa and Yusuf Musa; and that the location is St Catherine in S. Sinai.

Hamdy says that efforts continue to shut down the remaining camps.  On Monday and Tuesday last, small meetings of 17 human rights activists were held in Arish, N. Sinai.  Army and Al Jazeera TV personnel were on hand because of elections being held. A short article with some photos is at:
