Sharjah: Police have arrested ten Asian suspects in connection with several cases of human trafficking and also smashed a prostitution ring in Sharjah.
A senior official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) found that an Asian man, identified by police as Bangladeshi national M.H.A, was running a prostitution ring in the city.
"The suspect was arrested in a residential area while he was trying to sell a Filipina woman to another man for Dh8,000. Five other suspects related to the case have also been arrested and were charged with human trafficking and perpetuating prostitution activities," said the police official.
In a second case, CID sleuths stumbled on evidence suggesting that a brothel was operating in a residential area. A thorough investigation eventually led to the arrest of the prime suspect, identified as Indian national S.L.D., who allegedly forced four Asian girls to work as prostitutes in his house, which was being used as a brothel. Police then raided the house and caught several Asian men red-handed in the brothel.
Raid on apartment
In a separate case, police arrested R.B., an Indian national, who ran a prostitution ring and had employed many women for illegal activities. "An apartment in a residential building was being used illegally for prostitution. After the CID verified all the information related to the case and carried out all the necessary legal procedures, the apartment was raided and a Filipina and Sri Lankan woman were arrested," said the police official.
