“NEFARIOUS, Merchant of Souls” is a hard-hitting documentary that exposes the disturbing trends in modern sex slavery. From the very first scene, “NEFARIOUS” ushers you into the nightmare of sex slavery that hundreds of thousands experience daily.
You’ll see slaves sold, where they work, and where they are confined (often in developed countries). You’ll hear first hand interviews with real victims and traffickers, along with expert analysis from international humanitarian leaders.
Over 27 million people are enslaved around the world. Human trafficking (sexual, domestic, industrial and agricultural) is a $32 billion per year industry, bringing in more revenue than the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB combined.
The U.S. government says that human trafficking is one of the largest criminal industries in the world — second only to drugs — and the fastest growing. Another person is brought into slavery every 8 seconds and every 30 seconds that victim is a child. The average age of entry into commercial sex slavery in the U.S. is 13 years old.
