A West Vancouver woman, accused of human trafficking and smuggling, is making her first court appearance this morning.
Mumtaz Ladha was arrested at Vancouver International Airport on July 19th.

She had just returned to Canada on a flight from Africa.
The 55-year old is accused of keeping a 21-year old woman from Africa in slave-like conditions at her home in the British Properties.
The woman was forced to work 18 hours a day, seven days a week, with no pay.
Ladha is also accused of taking the victim's passport to keep her from returning to Africa.
She was hired in the summer of 2008 and escaped in June of 2009.
